Fellowship Reflections: Talk to Teachers

I’m happy to report that we have extended fellowship offers to twelve remarkable educators. More on that…and them soon.

The best thing about the fellowship application process was learning from and about so many extraordinary educators. Our applicants are tenacious experts. They change the lives of their students. They change the career trajectories of their colleagues. They drive change at their schools. In some cases, they start new schools.

The worst thing about this process was sending rejection notices to so many wonderful educators. Our acceptance rate for this fellowship was 8%. If this fellowship was a university, it would be Brown or Duke.

But selectivity is not the goal here. We want to celebrate, uplift, and honor teachers who are doing exceptional work. We want to learn from these teachers. We want to help other teachers replicate what they’re doing. That’s the purpose of this fellowship.

And that’s also the purpose of our next project: Talk to Teachers

Check back tomorrow for an explainer on what we hope will be a focus for the rest of the year. We are going to talk to teachers.
