Innovators in testing and screening

These organizations are making neuropsychological and psychoeducational testing and academic screeners more equitable, more actionable, and more useful for all.

Earlybird

EarlyBird app, a cost-effective screening tool that can identify kindergarteners and pre-readers at risk of developing dyslexia before they fall behind their peers. EarlyBird uses a tablet-based game to assess children across 12 subtests that are predictive of reading ability. In addition, EarlyBird connects struggling students to research-supported interventions and provides invaluable student, class, and school-specific data to teachers and administrators.

The Learning Disabilities Program at Boston Children’s Hospital

The Learning Disabilities Program at Boston Children’s Hospital brings a unique approach to neuropsychological testing by including experts in neurology, neuropsychology, speech and language, mathematics, and psychology in the evaluation process. Like a typical neuropsychological evaluation, their evaluation describes student strengths and weaknesses and offers diagnoses, but it also predicts challenges that haven’t emerged yet, and it offers numerous and more specific recommendations directed at classrooms and teachers.

Promise Project

Promise Project offers high-end, comprehensive, and free neuropsychological assessments and clinical recommendations to low-income students attending New York City public schools. They also provide the advocacy and support necessary to ensure that students get the help and services necessary to learn.
