Virginia Quinn-Mooney
Virginia has been teaching for 25 years. She began her career in New York City and wrote the first Multicultural curriculum. She then taught in Newtown,CT. After leaving there, and raising two bomb kids she returned to teaching in CT. She has always loved (as in really) the profession. Days are filled with singing dancing and singing some more. She never bought the story that balanced literacy was selling. After listening to Emily Hanford's podcast, the fire was lit. Virginia reached out to Donna Heitmanejk (of What I should have Learned in College Facebook page) and proposed a virtual forum for teachers to join to share the shares and feel the feels. It was more successfuly and imagined with 100s of teachers, parents, Board Members, guests from the podcast in attendance. This forum better known as "Science of Reading Virtual Happy Hour" got legs. She has hosted several change makers from Kareem Weaver, Jan Hasbrouck, Melissa and Lori, etc. She is also now a moderator and group expert on the page. Virginia was featured on the bonus episode of Sold a Story as well has various podcasts. She has her school administration certificate but stays in the classroom. It is home and it best equips her as she travels the country to provide trainings.
